Intro to Functional Forge-welding - National Curriculum LV 1 - Part 3
Intermediate
This is a unique, hands-on class using a traditional coal/coke forge. Students will explore projects like intricately forged chains, welded spoons, and small hook latch. Under expert blacksmith guidance, students will practice Scarf, Lap, and Folded/faggot forge-welds to hone their skills to a professional level.
Each project builds a skill set that is reinforced and expanded upon in the next project! Welding will open many doors to advanced blacksmithing projects.
Upon satisfactory completion of this class, students can choose to get signed off on some of their NC checklist and be well on their way to LV 1 certification. More info on the National Curriculum page!
We break for lunch around noon for 30 - 45 minutes. There are plenty of places to go nearby, or you can store and prep your sack lunch in our kitchenette.
Please wear non-synthetic clothes and closed-toe shoes! A water bottle is highly recommended. Notebook or personal safety gear or tools are optional.
